Stockist Spotlight: The Rad Dad Box
| On February 6, 2019
We’re excited to spotlight our latest Stockist: The Rad Dad Box!
What is The Rad Dad Box?
From their excellent website: “The Rad Dad Box is a monthly subscription box containing items to support new dads and their children. Each box will have at least one product for Dad, one product for baby, and one product for the two to use together.”
Michelle Lin, Founder of The Rad Dad Box, explains the concept behind the company:
“I came up with the idea for the Rad Dad Box when I was pregnant with my first child. We’d been receiving many gifts for our baby from the registry, but almost none of them were geared towards my husband’s role as a soon-to-be dad. He was just as excited as I was about our baby, so I wanted to give him something to acknowledge his role and make him proud to be an expecting father.”
Michelle noticed that there were a variety of subscription boxes geared towards mothers and babies, but very few for dads. And that’s where the idea for The Rad Dad Box began.
Each month, a specially curated box arrives, filled with items to help dads and their toddlers bond. Books, crafts, toys, apparel, self-care products (soaps, lotions), snacks, spices – each month is a little different and a lot awesome.
This month, Neat Nick Preserves is delighted to be a part of The Rad Dad Box’s Lunar New Year celebration! The regular box contains a Dad-themed Lunar New Year book, a jar of our fan-favorite Cranberry Jam, “moon” eco-dough from eco-kids for the toddler box and pig toys for the baby box, a Lunar New Year craft, and a small red paper lantern. The deluxe box includes Green Bamboo Ka’nani Hawaiian Sea Salt from s.a.l.t. sisters and Baby soap from Sallyeander.
Why did The Rad Dad Box decide to include Neat Nick Preserves?
“First of all, we like supporting small businesses in our box. For January, we’re doing a Lunar New Year theme and we were looking for fruit snacks to include in the box, since dried fruits (not cranberries necessarily, but dates and longans) are popular snacks to eat during this time of year in Asia. We wanted to take this to the next level with the jam. We chose the cranberry jam specifically for its color (and taste!). Red is a lucky color and symbolizes good fortune and joy, and it’s seen everywhere during the Lunar New Year.” – Michelle Lin, Founder of The Rad Dad Box
We’re grateful to be included in such a thoughtful, creative endeavor and to introduce our handmade, small-batch jams to a whole new group of fans-to-be. Our goal is to spread happiness, one jar at a time. While our Cranberry Jam is tasty on toast or a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, you can also use it to accompany turkey, as a sandwich spread, as a topping on cheesecake or pancakes or waffles or ice cream, stirred into yogurt or icing for cupcakes, spread between cookies and serve it with tea, or baked in phyllo dough with brie for a tasty appetizer. However you decide to serve it (and we’ve been known to eat it by the spoonful directly from the jar), enjoy!
We wish The Rad Dad Box family – and all of our friends – a Happy Lunar New Year!
