We love what we do here at Neat Nick Preserves, and we hope that’s evident in every single jar of jam, jelly, and fruit butter that we send out into the world.
Our Founder and Owner, Nicole Paterson, comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Her vision is simple: to make delicious and unique preserves from the freshest and highest quality ingredients available.
From the very beginning, Nicole developed partnerships with local businesses and supported local nonprofits and community initiatives such as Preserves for Preservation, which benefitted the Ellicott City Partnership.
During her first year of operation, she was invited to take part in the prestigious Governor’s Annual Buy Local Cook Out as well as the FoodLab at Light City. Last summer Neat Nick Preserves was available at three local farmers markets – this year we’l be at five!
Owning and operating a small business is an enormous challenge – making that business a success even more so – which is why we’re so proud that Nicole and Neat Nick Preserves were recognized last week by Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot:
“Be it hereby known to all that this Certificate of Recognition is presented to Neat Nick Preserves in recognition of your company’s success by producing delicious handmade jams, jellies, butters and preserves and offering them in various locations and online to the delight of your customers. With special appreciation for your dedication, your wonderful products, and your contributions to the community as well as Maryland’s economy, best wishes for continued growth, success and prosperity. Presented on this 10th day of May 2018, signed Peter Franchot, Comptroller of Maryland.”
Friend and fellow entrepreneur RJ Caulder was recognized, too, for her role in promoting locally made goods through her Breezy Willow Country Market, an old style general store in Ellicott City, as well as for her family’s farm and amazing CSA.
We’re grateful for partners like RJ, who recognize that success is something that can be shared to the benefit of the broader community. We’re grateful to family and friends for their unwavering support from the early days, cheering on each new flavor and giving us ideas for new ones. Most of all, we’re grateful for a community that values small businesses, entrepreneurs, and exceptional jams, jellies, and fruit butters.
Thank you! And we hope to see you at a market or event soon!
