Introducing Three New Signature Flavors!
Join us this coming Saturday – September 1st – at Hysteria Brewing Company’s First Anniversary Party for the release of our brand new craft Beer Jellies:
Mad Sun Beer Jelly
Darkest Hour Figs & Honey
Morning After Beer Jelly
Hysteria’s First Anniversary Party is the perfect chance to try the jellies along with the beers, to stock up on your favorites, and to pick up as gifts for your favorite craft beer fan or foodie. And they’re made by hand in small-batches here in Maryland using Maryland-brewed beer – a delicious celebration of our amazing state!
Meet the Beers
Mad Sun: Unfiltered American IPA with Falconers Flight, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops
Notes: Balanced, East/West Coast American IPA, floral, dank, citrus, pine, light caramel sweetness, very light rye spice, medium bodied
Darkest Hour: American Stout with Falconers Flight and US Fuggle hops
Notes: Dark bakers chocolate, roasted coffee, balanced hop character, medium/full bodied
Morning After: Coffee Milk Stout brewed with lactose and dry hopped generously with 40lbs of a coarse ground Ethiopian espresso blend
Notes: Cold brew coffee, vanilla, accentuated sweetness, chocolate, roasty, full bodied
We selected these beers specifically for their flavor notes, which blend beautifully with luscious fruits and touches of spice while maintaining the taste profiles that fans adore. We added a touch of coriander and orange peel to Mad Sun, ripe figs and rich honey to Darkest Hour, and left the Morning After as is.
A Few Words From Our Collaborators
From Neat Nick Preserves:
We asked Neat Nick Founder, CEO – and the talent behind developing our signature recipes – Nicole Paterson a few questions about this exciting collaboration.
Q: What made you want to partner with Hysteria?
A: Hysteria makes unique, high-quality products. They also have a loyal fan base who get excited when they release new beers. We thought it would be fun to give those fans something unexpected.
Q: What was the most challenging aspect of creating the jellies?
A: The different ABV levels in each of the beers made it difficult to determine the amount of beer to use in each batch so that they would set properly.
Q: What was the most enjoyable aspect of creating the jellies?
A: Sending out samples for taste testing.
Q: What has the reception been so far from craft beer fans you know?
A: After doing sneak peeks at two farmers’s markets, the feedback has been very positive. Many customers visited the markets just to pick up the new beer preserves and purchased all three for themselves and as gifts.
Q: Care to share some ideas for using the different flavors?
A: They can be used to make cocktails, french toast filling (Darkest Hour), ribboned into ice cream, pulled chicken sandwiches (Mad Sun), glaze on wings (Mad Sun), mole sauce (Morning After), and so much more.
From Hysteria Brewing Company:
Gina Mattera, Event and Marketing Director for Hysteria Brewing Company, was kind enough to share her thoughts on the collaboration.
Q: What made Hysteria want to partner with Neat Nick Preserves?
A: Hysteria puts an emphasis on a sense of community and supporting local as much as possible. It only made sense to partner locally!
Q: How did the staff respond to the beer jellies?
A: All around delicious, but for most Darkest Hour Figs and Honey was the favorite.
Q: What will craft beer lovers appreciate most about this partnership?
A: We think craft beer lovers will appreciate not only the complimentary flavor profiles, but also the ability to see our beers integrated into creative food products. It’s always fun to see how you can incorporate craft beer into your day to day outside of the brewery.
Q: What does Hysteria appreciate most about this partnership?
A: Hysteria most appreciates the ability for two small local businesses to help elevate one another through collaboration, along with the time Nicole put in for recipe development because these jellies are absolutely tasty!
Q: Do staff members have any creative ideas for using the jellies?
A: We definitely want to use the jellies in a few cask beers in the upcoming months!
